Making inferences
This week we have been learning about making inferences.
You make an inference when you use
clues from the story to figure out
something that the author doesn’t
tell you.
When you make an inference, be
able to identify the clues that you
used.
The following clip explains how to make inferences in reading.
When reading with your child stop and ask them to infer using clues from the text.
Word Contractions – Activities
A contraction is a shortened form of one or two words (one of which is usually a verb). In a contraction, an apostrophe takes the place of the missing letter or letters. Some contractions are: I’m (I am), can’t (cannot), how’s (how is), and Ma’am (Madam).
The following are activities hat will help teach students about word contractions.
